Recipe: Pineapple and Mint Shrub


OK, so quarantine cocktails may have gotten a little out of control the last little bit. We started getting into the habit of having a night cap alllllmost every night and the thing is, is that I was actually just looking for something refreshing and yummy that wasn't water. Then I remembered a recipe that I created years ago and realized- I have all the ingredients to make this!⁠

It's been a hot minute since I have done any kind of fermentation, because well...mom life. But for all of you who were on the self isolation sourdough train -I have a super easy recipe for you that is refreshing AF, and can be easily adapted.⁠

Enter HERBAL SHRUBS... a delicious way to drink your Apple Cider Vinegar. This recipe only needs herbs and fruits of your choice (you might even have the fresh ingredients in your garden?) honey, and apple cider vinegar. A quick ferment, in this case, of Pineapple and Mint added to sparkling water makes the most delicious, healthy bevvie that hydrates and alkalizes deeply. ⁠

Herbal Shrub Recipe:


2 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 cup of Raw Honey

Handful of Mint (or herbs of your choice- lemonbalm, lemongrass, basil, rose petals, fresh is best!)

1/2 cup of Pineapple wedges (or any kind of fruit!)


Combine all ingredients in a mason jar and seal tightly. Leave on the counter from 24 hours to 5 days- the longer you leave it the more flavorful it will become. After infusion is done, strain off the liquid from the plant material and keep in a mason jar, chilled or just in your pantry.


To make a delicious sparkling bevvie, add 1 tsp of drinking vinegar to sparkling water. Thats it!
